When I was doing the Fiancée Visa in order to bring Lena here from Estonia, I wanted to be sure I did everything correctly on the paperwork. I wanted to use a lawyer but they all wanted a fortune to do a Fiancée Visa. I was looking through a discussion forum on Fiancée Visa's one day and saw a reference to a person by the name of John Dorer at American Immigration Network. I went to this site and did a bit of investigating. I was happy to see John did the Fiancée Visa for a total of only six hundred dollars, plus INS fees. This was an amazing price compared to what I had been seeing elsewhere. I called John before going to Estonia to meet my Lena, and even though I had not contacted him before this nor had I given him any money, he was very cordial and gave me quite a bit of time to explain a few things I could do to speed things up when I was in Estonia, if we decided we wanted to be married. I found talking to John was like talking to a good friend, not some high hat person. Below you will find a link to his site, which has a great deal of information about the Fiancée Visa.
Next I want to mention something that I learned after I had already begun the Fiancée Visa process. It is called Direct Consular Filing (DCF). Had I known about DFC I think I would have gone this route. A friend of Lena's has since been married to a man from S. Dakota and they used this procedure. It is much quicker and cheaper then the Fiancée Visa, however it is not available in all countries, so you have to check with the Consul in the country you are dealing with, and don't trust any list you read as they can change this any time they like. Call them and make arrangements beforehand if you want to use this. I am placing a link below for some DCF information as well. Good luck to everyone and if you love your Fiancée, you will do what you must. Yours, Jerry. |
